The 2nd annual New Jersey African Restaurant Week (celebrating the best of African/African Diaspora cuisine and culture) is taking place from July 25 – August 7, 2022. The “Week” also would include a “Food and Music Festival” on August 6 & 7 ( the last two days).

The New Jersey African Restaurant week aims to help stimulate the local economy and  help people  discover dishes they might not have had the opportunity to try before – (restaurants would provide dishes at a discounted rate.

Some of the restaurants will be offering special menus and prices in honor of the week (please click for list of restaurants).

WIN FESTIVAL TICKETS: Restaurant goers who take picture of food and tag us on Instagram @africanrestaurantweek win 2 tickets to Festival (we are giving away up to 200 tickets). This is an opportunity in New Jersey where food from Africa and the Black Diaspora finds itself on the “foodie” radar.

The Celebration also includes a festival on August 6 & 7, 2022 produced with the support of the Mayor’s Office of the City of Newark. Festival includes food tasting, a marketplace with vendors (food, fashion, art, crafts, wellness, beauty) , cultural performances, Afrobeat sets, poetry and more (family friendly). The festival which will serve as the closing event for the “week” runs from 12pm – 7pm and will be held Outdoors at Bisrate Gebriel Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church on 1046 South Orange avenue in Newark

The African Restaurant Week which kicked off in New York city in 2013 brings together locals, tourists, foodies, culture enthusiasts, social influencers, entrepreneurs and more – it is a commitment to community development and social impact and we are very excited to be partnering with the City of Newark to host the 2nd ANNUAL New Jersey Edition.
